Locally quarried marble, ground and polished back to a high gloss.
Granite is harder than marble, so it needs a different diamond sequence.
Imported stone is usually softer and pricier, so it is worked at a finer grit.
Terazzo is cement with stone chips, and grinds differently from solid stone.
Marble usually looks dull not because it is dirty. Fine scratches from grit and dust break up the reflection, so the surface looks hazy even when freshly mopped.
That is why wiping alone does not fix it. The surface has to be ground down slightly to remove the scratched layer, then polished back up stage by stage.
Many ordinary floor cleaners leave a film of wax and oil. Over time those layers build up and trap dirt, so the floor gets duller with every wash.
Each stage uses a finer diamond grit than the one before it. Skipping stages leaves a floor that looks bright for a week and then goes flat again, so we work through the full progression.
